The Property

The Inn is in Chilmark, Martha's Vineyard's smallest town. One of the Vineyard’s original farms, having been settled by the Hammett family in 1691, it became an inn in the 1940s. The property comprises 56 acres of former farmland now characterized by traditional cape architecture, gardens of perennial and annual flowers, herbs and vegetables. The acreage is contained by a mile of glacial stone walls and is surrounded by hundreds more acres of conservation land.

The graceful, clean lines of the renovated Inn fit comfortably in landscape which is rich in natural assets - high bush blueberries, fiddlehead ferns, fascinating varieties of moths and butterflies, deer, and wild turkeys. The Main House lot is defined by a stone wall which includes the Inn, gardens, fitness room, and tennis court. All six buildings are eloquent in their simplicity, the traditional architecture blending with the surroundings, while pastels and tones of white create a peaceful atmosphere within. Ceiling fans and white cotton bed linens promise comfort. Hand painted furniture and the works of local artists are scattered throughout. An understated elegance pervades the comfortable and casual feeling here.

Inn Guest Rooms

Land and sea set the tone for the Inn's interiors: simple, open and sun-drenched, but never lacking for some souvenir from the morning's hike or a surprise from the farmer's market. Pine and whitewash, bleached cotton duck, and the work of island artisan's furnish the rooms. There are twenty-five rooms with one to three-bedroom suites and cottages, nearly all with private terraces and balconies.

Amenities

The atmosphere at the Inn is one of relaxation and rejuvenation. Special touches in the rooms include fluffy terry cloth robes, an ice cooler to take to the beach, fine quality shampoo and bath gels, hair dryer, alarm clock and telephone. All rooms have cable and televisions are available on request.

There is a fitness room, Jacuzzi, tennis court and croquet lawn. Exercise equipment includes weight machines, treadmills and bicycles.

Spa services at the Inn include a variety of revitalizing facial and massage treatments. Treatments range from a hydrating aromatherapy facial to a two-hour deep tissue massage, and can be specifically designed for your personal comfort and relaxation.

Dining

Theo's, the intimate restaurant at The Inn at Blueberry Hill, serves delicious fresh island cuisine from 6 to 9:30 PM. Angus beef, fish, poultry, lean cuts of pork, lamb, pasta, and vegetarian dishes are among the enticing dinner selections. Nightly specials are based on Chef Robin Ledoux-Forte's selection of the freshest ingredients available. Reservations are required and guests are reminded to bring their own wine or other alcoholic drinks as Chilmark is a dry town.

Breakfast, included in your room rate, is a selection of seasonal fruit and juices, cereals, bagels, homemade breads and scones, fresh coffee, and a variety of teas. Box lunches are available.

Attractions

Martha's Vineyard is world-famous as a resort destination. However, even when the island is at its busiest, the small residential community of Chilmark is a pastoral haven of rolling hills, stunning views and peaceful serenity.

In the nearby fishing village of Menemsha, boat charters are available. The three down-island towns of Vineyard Haven, Edgartown and Oak Bluffs are unique and active with movies, plays, concerts, antique shops, galleries, restaurants and museums.
